SP500 is in a broadening wedge formation.  This is a common feature seen during reporting season as the market is swung about in different directions as company reports come in.

It is characterised by increasing volatility and can be used by swing traders to their advantage.

This pattern is neither bullish nor bearish - just disconcerting for the retail investor who cannot see a clear pattern for trading.
